Hi hi loves! If you have not noticed there has been a big change to the blog! I am no longer going by ThinkFeelStrong.com, instead, by my name, ChelseaHodges.com.
Because I felt that all my content had to measure up and match the meaning behind my blog name – and I was struggling to do so. I plan to grow this blog in many different ways, and I don’t really want a name restriction, therefore my full name was the way to go.
So welcome to ChelseaHodges.com – all the content will stay the same! New projects coming soon, so stay tuned!
Any-who, onto the post..
I’ve been reached out to by multiple people asking how I set goals for myself and am able to reach them, mainly blogging goals. So I wanted to make a post highlighting the key components that I think people mess up on, thus, not allowing them to smash their goals and be the ultimate badass.
This is a cliche, but let’s remember here, nobody is perfect. I don’t meet every goal I set, but I try to set goals for things that I know I should go after, things that are worthwhile and will provide great results in return for my efforts.
Problem #1: You don’t really want it.
You heard me. But it has to be said, because sometimes, this is TRUE. Really sit there and evaluate what goal you are setting for yourself, are you doing it purely because others’ pressure you? Only set goals that will provide your inner self true happiness, disregard the background noise (aka people).
When you really want something, and it consumes you, you will reach the goal, no doubt about it. It may take a while, but regardless, having a desire to truly achieve something never fails.
Problem #2: You are not giving yourself a realistic time-frame.
It’s so so easy to set a goal, and think to yourself it will be accomplished in the next week, causing more stress and overwhelm into your life. I never try to really set a due date for my goals, I like to say a relative time I’d like the goal done. Ex: I’d like to write and release an eBook by the end of summer..
Try to take into account that you are not a superhuman, and give yourself the proper time to get the goal accomplished in a efficient manner.
This also can affect the quality of the work you do when you achieve your goal. When you restrict yourself and only have x amount of days, it can definitely diminish the quality you put into it.
Take the time, and put in the work.
Problem #3: You aren’t taking advantage of resources around you.
A big goal inhibitor can be as simple as you not taking advantage of the help around you! You may not be reaching your goal simply because you aren’t asking for some help, or educating yourself on certain aspects of whatever you’re setting out to achieve.
Utilize the internet, people in your life, whatever it may be..
Ex: When I created my first eBook, I took full advantage of my resources, aka: google, fellow bloggers, researching, eBook downloads I had.
Problem #4: You are not setting the RIGHT goals.
With whatever you do in life, you have to grow and develop through progressive stages, you can’t just jump from level 1 to level 300 in a day. Again, I relate this to blogging. For example, when I started blogging.. my first goal was not to create and sell an eBook, it was to just write blog posts and develop content.
You run into many issues when you overestimate yourself, and don’t start at the bottom of what needs to be done. So don’t rush! Work your way up.
And only set goals that you truly feel are going to benefit and move you towards what you’re wishing for – don’t set goals solely based off of others.
Goal setting is an important aspect to evolving – we’re always changing and learning new things – hopefully with these pointers, you can make the right goals & smash them!
Which of these 4 problems do you feel you’ve experienced when you set your own goals? Let me know in the comments below!
